THE DUSTY MILLER.
This is contained in the first volume of Walsh's Compleat Country Dancing Master and in The Lady's Banquet, published by Walsh ; also in a manuscript which was recently in the possession of the late Andrew Blaikie, of Paisley, and there entitled Binny's Jigg.
It has been said that the tune of The Busty Miller is contained in Queen Elizabeth's Virginal Book, but I believe it to be only one of the many random assertions that have been made about the contents of that manuscript. The Virginal Book contains tunes that have similar accent (such as The Carman's Whistle), but after turning over every page, I found no Busty Miller. |
